shlea Wessel is a filmmaker and blood donor hailing from the raccoon-infested hellmouth called Toronto, Canada. Wessel’sfilms use elements of horror, sci-fi and fantasy as a framework to explor themes of social, political and personal upheaval.She tells her stories using an arresting visual style that couples stark realism with a phantasmagoric flair.Her award-winning short film INK screened at festivals around the world and received award nominations, culminating in a win for Best Actress from Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and Best Director from Horrorhaus Film Festival in 2017. She celebrated the world premiere of her sophomore film,TiCKat Fantasia International Fantastic Film Festival. She looks forward to TiCKs continuing festival run, and the release of her third short,Daughter of Babelin 2019
